Information and Advice:
Age Concern, Battle area

Older people ring or come into our office to seek information about a variety of problems. Volunteers are required to identify the problem and where possible provide information or signpost accordingly.

Volunteers should have good communication skills both oral and written. They should be able to fulfil general clerical duties such as using the photocopier and filing. All training will be provided.

Shop Assistant:
Age Concern, Battle area

Assisting the shop manager to sort, size and tag donated goods and place neatly on rails. Assist and serve customers.

Volunteers should be trustworthy, polite and friendly and enjoy working as part of a team.

Toe Nail Cutting:
Age Concern, all across East Sussex

Older people often experience difficulty reaching their feet so cutting toe nails can become a problem. After training, volunteers carry out simple toenail cutting in client's homes or in designated venues. More complex foot care is never undertaken.

Volunteers should be reliable, honest, patient and responsible with good listening skills.

Home from Hospital:
Age Concern, all across East Sussex

Volunteers visit people in their homes after their discharge from hospital in order to offer practical and emotional support for a short term (4-6 weeks). You may have to do some shopping, collect prescriptions or other light tasks making the client's life a little easier.

Volunteers need to be trustworthy and reliable with good listening and communication skills.

Befriending Volunteers:
Age Concern, all across East Sussex

Volunteers befriend older people living alone in their own homes in order to provide companionship for a specified period of time. They assist older people in something of their choosing which will make their life more pleasurable or grant them a greater degree of independence. Examples could be joining the local library, trips to the shops, restoring contact with lost friends.

Volunteers need to be trustworthy and reliable with good listening and communication skills.

Beer festival, children's events, theatre events. See events and free beer for over 18s.

3 - 4 afternoons per month.

No food preparing. Helps to be friendly.

Helping with school trip visits.

Monday - Wednesday afternoons, plus some weekends.

Stock taking, till, customer care etc.

Mornings and afternoons.

Get dressed up and show school groups round castle, re-enactments, story telling. Accreditation, training and life-long learning.tock taking, till, customer care etc.

Monday - Friday, plus some weekends.

Act on It, all across East Sussex

Working with "Act on It" in schools and youth clubs. Will be CRB checked.

Buddying a disabled person aged 14-19. Training and support given. Expenses paid.

Must be 18+.

UFOSA Foundation Charity Shop: Bexhill; Battle, Hastings; and soon Sidley

Volunteer in our UFOSA Foundation charity shops in Bexhill, Battle, Hastings, Eastbourne, and soon Sidley, and gain an NVQ up to Level 3 in Retail Skills, which will look great on your CV!

Gain retail experience whilst raising vital funds for disadvantaged South African people. You may be involved with sorting donations, working on the till, and creating window displays.

The UFOSA Foundation is seeking to reach 30 communities throughout South Africa, uniting them in a far-reaching 5 year aid and development program in Education, Family, Wellbeing  and Health.

Xtrax Young People's Centre:

Xtrax Young People's Centre has been running a breakfast club since last September and now need to increase their team of staff. The role will involve serving breakfast, greeting young people as they arrive and cleaning and washing up. Hours are 8.45 - 10.30, Monday to Friday, or how ever many days you can offer.

They also have a new opportunity for a volunteer with computer skills to work as an administrator for the breakfast club, helping young people with their CV, letters and completing electronic forms. Hours: 9.00 - 11.00am two days a week.

4th Hastings Rainbow Unit:
Ore

Do you enjoy working with young children and helping them grow in confidence and learn how to work with others whilst having fun at the same time? A volunteer is needed to help run a Rainbow Unit based in Ore, which has 12 girls aged 5-7. There will be the opportunity to undertake the Adult Leadership Scheme.

Two references required and CRB check will be undertaken.
