Space Hop Helpers Required for Summer

Can you motivate children? Do you enjoy books and reading? Then why not help with this year's Summer Reading Challenge run by ESCC libraries department. The year the challenge called Space Hop is all about encouraging primary age children to take up reading and helpers are required to issue books, fill in the challenge cards and give out rewards on completion as well as talk to the children and find out what they enjoyed about the books.

Opportunities exist in Eastbourne, Lewes, Battle, Heathfield, Forrest Row, Langley, Hampden Park, Seaford, Peacehaven, Bexhill and Rye. Hours can be arranged to suit your availability and holidays and you can do from 2 hours to 20 hours per week. The challenge starts from the beginning of the school holidays and a short induction training will be arranged a few weeks prior to this so put your name down now if you are interested in taking part in this rewarding and fun opportunity which is especially good for anyone thinking of working with children in the future.

Contact either Kate Robson or Pete Relf to find out more.

Hospital Trolley Service Seek Summer Help

Eastbourne DGH and Hastings Conquest Hospital would like to hear from volunteers who are available over the Summer to run their patient trolley services.

This is a valuable facility which patients really enjoy and it helps brighten up their day. You would be responsible for working alongside another volunteer bringing drinks, confectionary and newspapers to patients as well as chatting to them. Anyone looking for a career in medicine or nursing will find this a valuable experience to help with their c.v. and give them an insight into working in a hospital. We will be holding some taster days to come along and find out what is involved so please get back to Kate Robson if you or a friend would be interested. Volunteers will be required to work a 3 hour shift usually from about 1 to 4pm .The service runs Mondays to Fridays only and you work on days which suit you.
